Filled with a treasure trove of artifacts and artworks, the Whatcom Museum’s permanent collection
is the source of a new exhibition with special appeal to children. Each school year, more than 25,000
students visit the Whatcom Museum of History & Art to participate in grade-appropriate education
programs. Among those, are 60 fourth grade classes from three school districts who learn about design
elements in their classrooms, then visit the Whatcom Museum to apply their learning. The artworks for
this exhibition contain fun subject matter that clearly displays the basic design elements of color,
line, shape, and texture in a great diversity of style and medium. Adults will enjoy it as much as
children.
